I've been offered a job in Spain with a group called Meddeas. Has anyone been involved with it in the past few years?

Meddeas are a relatively new company that provide schools across Spain with native English speakers as language assistants.

The assistants are paid from a grant, I'll be working 20 hours a week and get 840 euros a month. At the end of the year, after a written and practical component, I will also be given a certificate as an expert in bilingual education.

I have never taught before and I thought a language assistant programme would be the best way to try it out.

I've lived in Spain before as a student so I know the cost of living is far cheaper than Ireland so I think thepay is reasonable considering the amount of hours I'd have. Can someone give me their opinions on this please?

This doesn't sound a very good offer to me. The salary, or 'grant', is something you will have to pay back if you leave early, right?

Also it is very low. Many jobs pay around 1,200 a month. I would say 1,000 a month is the lowest you should consider, and even with that amount you would have to live frugally.

Have you applied for many other jobs? Remember that September is a much better time for finding work in Spain, although there should be some work available now.

(I don't think you should pay too much attention to a piece of paper that says you're an expert)
