On the Asia job board, alan.horizon, alexzhang, amy_82 and others post 20 or more times every single day, and 95% are the same ones they posted the day before and the day before that... Once I went page by page and found ten full pages posted the same day, and 100% were China. If one is looking in Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, etc. This site is completely useless. Just about all other boards have separate categories for both Korea and China since those are the spamaniacs. I hope this site will do likewise sometime.

Hello Mojoski

We understand your frustration and we are deleting over 100 of these job advertisements every day, in order to contain them.

We hope to have our new jobs board up and running soon

UJ,

Have you guys considered altering the posting system so that they had to be submitted via email before being posted?

It really does detract from the board when you have China and Korea postings all over the American and European boards (they seem to do this on every site). Then you have those same guys trying to scam people for $5000 a month in Dubai. They post on every section and simply change the numbers a bit.

Then of course for North America you have to wade through a page of Oxford Seminars postings in order to read anything about real jobs.

It seems that since this site is free some requirements to protect teachers could be applied. For instance requiring the posters to specify exactly what their salary range for the position is.

I realize it would take some work, but it certainly would hep keep the board clean and protect applicants in the process.

I got an admin pm that said they plan to do something to the structure of the board to try and fix the problem.

Lex

We have tried everything in order to stop the scammers but what works on the ESL Forum doesn't seem to work on ESL Jobs.
Therefore, a complete new system is being devised, with everything in place to make it more secure; so I have been told.

Hello Lexicon, Mojoski -

I'm an administrator too here, like Union Jack. Indeed we are on the verge of finally releasing the new ESLemployment.com. Thank you for the feedback. We will have many new features that will continue to keep this community free for employers and thus allow as many employers as possible to use the site in these troubled times, but also build in tools to reduce the scamming, spamming, and other issues you have had till now, with navigating the site and other items that make the site not as user-friendly as it should be. The Oxford Seminars example is a good one - one feature will be giving you the ability to sort jobs at one click by both country, city, and state breakdowns. So if Oxford Seminars has a range of legitimate jobs on offer, they will not dominate a whole page as is the case now.

Thanks again for your feedback, and patience. And thanks Union Jack, your postings are very helpful, and much more frequent than mine Very Happy

You guys do provide a great service and I think the valid jobs tend to be among the better out there. Good luck on improving the system.

Re the Oxford Seminars positions: I realize they are an advertiser on here and obviously a source of supporting the board. Would it be possible to place franchise type position such as theirs into a separate category as they're not actual ESL jobs?

I'm sure they provide some nice extra income for people in the towns they are in, but because they only hire one person per location, and then only if they are able to fill a class from that college town, the jobs are not truly a competitive position in the spirit of the employment section.

Perhaps a separate listing for TEFL teacher trainer positions. In much the same way it would be nice to be able to filter out all those scammers offering "volunteer positions". These aren't actual charities, but for-profit companies who get paid by the schools they place teachers with and then turn around and require payment of fees from the actual volunteer teachers.

This sort of thing wastes people's time who are looking for legitimate jobs, and also allowing them to advertise and recruit victims hurts actual teachers and those seeking employment as it lowers wages and can easily turn someone off to teaching for life.

Hello Lexicon,

This is very valuable input and feedback, thank you very much for taking the time to write it down. We are hoping to do more to categorize the jobs better with the new site, which should be released by the end of July. We will be introducing a flagging system which is common on free systems such as ours, and that will also allow for users to provide additional information such to us that they are aware of, much as when an advertised job is more like a franchise opportunity and should be categorized as such.

Again, thanks very much for the feedback and for using our site.

All the best to you,

Rich
