.................................
Happy Chinese New Years to all our members and the 23,859 foreign teachers now working in China (down from 29,897 last year due to the PSB crackdown and all the illegal fake teachers arrested in 2017, and those who left to make more money in Singapore, Dubai, Korea, etc.). Still, no matter where our teacher colleagues may be today, it is difficult to deal with daily life and lesson plans without our beloved Internet. Nothing can be more frustrating than having to pay expensive hourly fees for WIFI access abroad in foreign countries because of language or local ID requirements.
We, therefore, are now offering a FREE Global WIFI Access Directory to all of you here at this link and we will update it every three months (sorry we only have 7 volunteers on our staff and they have to answer over 300 emails a day). These International hotspots and passwords have been verified. There are no strings attached – please accept it as our New Year Gift of 2018 which we hope is a healthy, safe, and happy year for all of our traveling TEFL colleagues. https://www.slideshare.net/LaowaiCareerCenter/cftu-gives-2018-new-year-gift-free-wifi-access-when-traveling-and-vpn-for-china-tefl-teachers-working-in-china
Those of you coming to work in China, or already here will soon discover that life without a VPN can be miserable and equally frustrating with no access to Facebook, Twitter, or even the New York Times. Only five VPNs actually work in China and they are expensive. But the CFTU has you covered. We also will provide you with a free VPN (that works in China) but you will have to log on to Reddit and subscribe to three of six subs and then send us an email at FreeVPN@ChinaForeignTeachersUnion.org with your Reddit username so we can verify that you subscribed at any three of these subs…

Did you know that about 75% of all the online China job ads are fabricated by China job agents and recruiters just to get your contact info (sales lead) and resume? At least 20% of these ads are posted by identity thieves which victimized 20% of all foreign teacher working in China in 2016. See http://chinascamwatch.wordpress.com

Did you know the CTA and CFTU have blacklisted almost 400 employers and dodgy recruiters and other scammers since 2009? You can get the complete updated list at http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.com.
But think positive! You can avoid all the negative news and only apply for jobs approved and registered with SAFEA, the agency of the Chinese government that authorizes, regulates, and monitors employers authorized to hire foreigners in China. Here is the the white list: http://opnlttr.com/letter/2017-chinese-esl-tefl-school-whitelist-china-foreign-teachers-relased-cftu-job-seekers
In 2017 the average monthly earnings of a full-time TEFL teacher in China was 16,500 rmb per month and roughly 10% in Beijing and Shanghai. Yes, recruiters will insist the salaries are in the range of 10,000 a month so they can skim a big slice of your wages every month for themselves.
