|
|
Because of the COVID situation and locked borders there are no more scams than ever before related to China TEFL teaching jobs because out of work job applicants are so desperate for work that they have become more gullible and trusting, and the scammers know this and take advantage of job applicants all over the world - but especially China. Here are some golden rules to avoid the con artists and identity thieves.
1) Do not pay any up -front fees of any kind
2) Give only your first name on resumes like "P.aul J12" and never your date of birth, and only provide a black and white copy of your passport, UNTIL you receive the name of the employer and that employer is not only SAIC and SAFEA registered, but that you call and speak with the principal or international office and confirm they are hiring.
3) Do not fly to China without first having two things in your hands. This is a MUST:
(a) A signed and sealed original hard-copy of your contract in English stating that your are being hired as a FULL TIME teacher at a specific school and location, at a specific monthly salary, and what your specific housing will be. This document must have the name and signature of the principal (not an agent) and the official red seal of the school.
(b) A Z visa (Work visa) obtained from an invitation letter issued BY THE SAME SCHOOL listed on your contract, not a third party or you will have a 50% chance of being arrested, jailed for 30 days and the deported.
If you want to know WHY the above is absolutely essential. visit this link and know that 4 of my teacher colleagues were victims in the last 2 years and they lost thousands of dollars without ever getting the jobs they were offered. https://www.docdroid.net/o6poHvm/warning-pdf |

The problem is that when we try to warn one another here on this forum about the scam artists, the names get "removed" and then the admnin locks the threads so nobody else can comment or give other warnings of their own. I am not sure why they would want to protect these known crooks, unless they are worried about a law suit? But hell these people are in China and can't sue anyone in another country because they'd get arrested if they ever left China. But when it comes to finding out who these thieves and shysters are, I suggest you all use the blacklists which are fairly current and check out all the links in the posts that are locked. Here are the links I use:
https://reddit.com/r/TEFLscams
https://reddit.com/r/TEFL_tips_traps_scams
https://www.tefl.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8836
https://ruqqus.com/+TEFLBlacklist

If you guys have the extra $5,000 to lose to a scammer in China (and the cheaters are mostly foreigners - not Chinese) don't waste your time with these links. But if you need that extra $5,000 to stay in YOUR pocket, invest 30 minutes weeding out the frauds that are just waiting for your resume or click. _________________ The devil is always in the details so pay attention to your employment contract! Thanks Grumpy. Those are EXCELLENT links that I surely could have used 2 years ago when I fell for a job offer by a company operating under 9 different alias names. They had such a bad reputation that hand to run ads using the names of old successful companies that moved out of China like Dell, Kaplan, and Pearson. With the links you gave us, I can see all the alias names scammers use. Thanks again. |

I think it is important to determine whether the company is qualified to recruit foreigners if you want to url removed
Generally, all companies/organizations with valid business licenses are eligible to hire foreign employees. In addition, educational institutions must obtain permission to operate private schools so that they can hire full-time teaching staff. |

[size=18]Hey guys, be aware that new users and REMOVED are spammers inserting back-links to a blacklisted Chinese scam called REMOVED that is fully exposed at https://reddit.com/r/TEFLscams and also https://reddit.com/r/ChinaTeachers[/size
