And what I don't understand is how, considering there are so many threads in various forums here on ESL Employment that this bogus school is still advertised on ESL Employment! Does no one monitor this? |

They even created a website to make it appear that the school really exist in greece. Check out www.kingstonmae.com..This makes people more vulnerable to their deceptive schemes. [/img]
|

You mean the school doesn't even exist? I've had a look at the website and it all looks legit. I've been in touch with the school as well and just received their 'online interview' questions the other day. Apart from them asking for money, how did you find out it was a scam? |

Classic Nigerian 419 advance fee fraud scam.
The names of the contacts given are neither Greek nor English. The name "Makarem" is Nigerian.
The phone number given is a mobile number.
The address given is a... yahoo email address!
School domain URLs end in .edu not in .com
Schools do not send out letters riddled with typos.
No self-respecting school asks for money from someone they just hired.
There are no schools by that name in Greece.
There are no streets by that name in Greece.
Greeks do not write their postal addresses the way they were given to you.
If you were to check the IP addresses of the emails you received, you'll most likely find they did not originate from Greece, but from Nigeria, the armpit of the world.
Any questions? |

Hi dcklondon,
I'll alert your concerns to ESLemployment.

"Concerns"?
Instead of alerting concerns, why don't you immediately delete the bogus ads and terminate the dirtbags' accounts with extreme prejudice? |

Can someone from ESLemployment.com notify the authorities that this Kingstonmae is a scam???Many people will be seriously affected with this scam, if ESLemployment does not do something about it.
I was almost caught...but luckily I was aware of it since they asked for money...also I searched Google Earth using their address and it doesn't exist; even the registered license of the school.
Before committing to these scumbags, make sure you call the embassy to verify their legitimacy; that's the easy way.. |

Hi everyone,
I just got the letter from Kingston Mae School in which they are congratulating me in my "new " position. As the whole application process went too easy , I wanted to cheque the info first. When I looked for their website It wasn't active anymore. How can we find out more and know for sure that this is a scam?
When I tried to do my placement through Oxford Seminars they told me that I can't teach in Europe unless I have EU passport. Also all the written mistakes I found, their online interview and fast responses were kind of strange. So this with Greece surprised me, and I was really happy. Now finding all of this.....
If scam like this happens on esl employment website, where to go to be sure that the jobs are real?
What scares me the most is the documents I have sent it to so called Kingston Mae school. I mean they got a copy of my passport... I can just imagine what they will do with it. Did anyone go through this too? Is there anyone who went a step further?
Thank you in advance.

Hi
I have also applied to and have been accepted by the Kingston Mae School. I thank you all for this information you are giving. Thank heavens I did not go too far - too far like sending them that 950 Euro they asked for. I also have not sent them my passport and other important documents.
I started becoming uncomfortable with them when they sent to tell me that they already have my credentials in the office so i didn't need to send them again! I had only been sending these people emails with information - nothing else. So it seems they are not even remembering who they told what to.
Another cause for concern was the request for money - 950 Euro. That's a lot of money! I could not understand why I needed to pay money in advance if they are going to pay me a salary. It just didn't add up. I went to Korea last year to teach English and they never asked for a cent. Whatever was my part of the bargain, financially, they took it from my salary.
Something doesn't seem right about this school - if it exists. I am happy for all who have seen the red flag and have heeded it. I hope others will come to the same realization before they get hurt. |

Thank you all for your replies. You really saved me.
However, I am really worried what they'll do with the information they got from us, like addresses, phone numbers, D.O.B, and passport information. Keep in mind that passport has your signature on it too. Can they do something with that??? Should I Iinform my financial institutions about possible scam?
I did send them an email saying that I am aware that the whole deal is a scam and that the school doesn't exist.
It was just too many details that didn't match( typos, wrong dates, yahoo email, address and so on. Also Greeks do not write addresses like it said on "the contract" they offered to me. One more thing...if you look at the bottom of your contract you'll see bellow their signature that the date is written in the past. Makes you wonder how did they know week before you'll be accepted when I haven't had the initial interview yet?
Be aware! Hope no one paid them money they asked for. _________________ Nana |

Nana,
You ought to be VERY worried about your personal information having fallen in the hands of these scumbags!
Keep in mind these Nigerians are dangerous criminals, not some petty thieves. They will probably use your information (Name, DOB, phone, passport info, signature) for other scams they have going on. Either they will assume your identity to incur debts or buy products and services in your name, or scam other people in other ways posing as *you*!
It is very easy nowadays to do such a thing. I recently received 2 credit cards in the mail based on info I gave over the phone. Likewise, it is easy for a con artist to get credit cards or even loans in your name armed with your personal information. Be very, very careful and take any action necessary to protect your identity! |
