This is a passport scam. They're based in Nigeria collecting ID clones. DON'T send them any personal details

The same 'scammers' have advertised fake ESL teaching positions in Spain, London and Nigeria. They're international, it seems.

I diligently sent everything these scammers requested. At what risk am I? Does anybody know what kind of damage they can do? Is there anything I can do to limit the damage/risk I have caused myself by reacting to them. I even received an e-mail from 'UAE Ministry of Education Language studies'.

Their message appeared again on this site at the end Of July and I fell for it, it seems. I got suspicious when they asked for $350 in visa processing fees to be sent Western Union to a woman in Dubai who doesn't even have an Arabic name.

I did give them my passport number, and a scanned copy of my passport photo. What risk does that expose me to?

Please help!

The following statement was made by the UK Passport Authorities, when asked if your passport details could be used for illicit purposes.

"Provided that you still have the actual passport, there is very little they can do with only the passport details".

Therefore, I suggest you move on and forget about it because I think, in the first instance, they were after your money.

I note that the advertisement is a 'scam' and has been removed from ESL Jobs advertisement.

However,it appears. there is another advertisement dated Aug 31 by the same employer as identified in the 'scam' .

Can someone please advise me what's the current position with the above-mentioned advertisement,that is,is it a reliable advertisement or a 'scam'.

I am reluctant to submit an application until I'm convinced it is a genuine advertisement.

Hope someone would be able to solve this mystery !

Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid it is another scam.

Even though we are modifying our software to reduce these scams to a minimum, the scammers will always find a way to beat the system. Therefore, you will always have to be on your guard not to accept anything without evidence of some kind.

Here is the procedure when responding to any advertisement.

The first thing you must do is to write directly to the school, to determine whether the advertisement is genuine. The scammers often use the correct school and website address but use their own web based email addresses ( such as hotmail, ymail and mail etc ) and their own telephone numbers. DO NOT USE THESE!

Do not base your decisions on trust. First, obtain the evidence and then check it out thoroughly.

They copied some of the text from ESL Park in Korea and they put the location in UAE where they could offer $4K per month and then sit back and collect the money from desperate ESL teachers (I fall in that category).

Follow the old saying. . .If it's too good to be true, it probably is

They are using a free domain name that redirects to the official UAE Ministry of Labour website. I have just sent an email to "abuse@dot.tk" detailing their actions and have put a request in for their account to be terminated ASAP.

I will post the outcome when I get a response.

Unfortunately, I've been caught also....Their last sending was today. They even pushed their luck by sending me an employment letter for a teaching job in UAE...without any previous interview....Who do they think we are? Nuts? I wrote to them and also sent them a web link related to an acticle and a forum, showing them that their fake have been revealed....Spread the message, because they are still operating and, as I can see, they are difficult to stop....

Sadly, I fell for it and they have my details -and with all my years of experience I should have been more alert.

I should have realised that the e mail they used were not authentic UAE ministry of labor country coded. They used a 'TK' which is a pacific Island!

Sure enough, it looks like they are yet again Nigerians.

Fortunately for me I did not send any money and there is no need for teachers to send money to recruiters anyhow. I have got jobs all my life in EFL without using a recruiter.
